Fruit plantation and orchard development
Orchard planning and plantation for farms, farmhouses and larger plots: species selection, spacing, irrigation layout and the aftercare that gets trees to bearing age.
An orchard is a twenty year decision made in one week
Spacing, variety and rootstock are set on planting day and cannot be changed afterwards. Trees planted too close compete for light and water by year four and never yield properly. The wrong variety for your soil and water quality will grow, but it will not bear well.
We plan the orchard before we plant it: soil and water tested, layout set to mature canopy size, irrigation designed for the tree count, and a planting calendar that gives young trees the best possible establishment window.
Then we stay through the establishment years, because the first three years decide what the next twenty look like.

What is included
- Soil and water suitability assessment
- Species and variety selection for your soil, water and market
- Orchard layout with spacing set to mature canopy size
- Pit marking, digging and pit preparation with organic charge
- Quality grafted sapling sourcing
- Drip irrigation designed for the tree count and staged for growth
- Planting, staking and initial protection
- Aftercare through the establishment period: watering schedule, training, pruning and pest management
Six directions an orchard can take
Final species and variety depend on your soil test, water quality and whether the aim is household use or commercial yield. We recommend after testing, not before.
Mango
The default choice across Gujarat and the most planted orchard crop we handle. Variety and spacing decide whether you get a canopy that yields or one that shades itself out.
Sapota (chikoo)
Reliable in Gujarat conditions, tolerant of a range of soils, and productive for decades once established. Popular on farmhouse plots.
Guava
Fast to bearing compared with mango, which makes it a common choice when the owner wants to see returns sooner.
Coconut and date palm
Suited to larger plots and boundary plantation. We handle both saplings and mature palm transplanting with a crane.
Citrus: lemon and lime
Compact, quick to bear and easy to fit around farmhouse landscaping rather than as a dedicated orchard block.
Mixed farmhouse orchards
A smaller planting of several fruit species for household use rather than commercial yield, the most common request from farmhouse owners.
The six things that decide an orchard’s yield
All six are settled before planting. None of them can be corrected once the trees are in the ground.
Soil test first
Depth, drainage and salinity decide what will actually bear. We test before recommending species, because a variety that fails on your soil is an expensive mistake to discover in year five.
Water quality and volume
Orchards are a long term water commitment. We check borewell quality and available volume against what the planned tree count will need at maturity, not at planting.
Spacing for mature canopy
Spacing is set for the size the species reaches here. Close planting looks efficient on day one and costs you yield from year four onward.
Pit preparation
Pits are dug ahead of planting and charged with organic matter, so roots move into prepared ground rather than compacted subsoil.
Irrigation staged for growth
Drip is designed for mature demand but staged so young trees are not overwatered. Emitters move outward as the root zone expands.
The establishment years
Years one to three decide the orchard. Training, formative pruning, protection and a watering schedule matter more here than at any later point.
Four steps, and we are still here after the fourth
Site visit and testing
We walk the plot, check soil depth and drainage, and arrange soil and water testing before recommending anything.
Layout and species plan
Orchard layout with spacing, tree count, species and variety, irrigation design and transparent costing.
Pit preparation and planting
Pits marked, dug and charged, saplings sourced and planted, staked and protected, drip laid.
Establishment care
Scheduled visits through the first years: watering, training, pruning, nutrition and pest management.

Orchard development across six cities in Gujarat
We are based in Ahmedabad and work across Gujarat. Our home city gets same week site visits; other cities are scheduled within the fortnight.

Questions, answered
There is no minimum. A farmhouse plot with twenty to fifty trees is a common project for household use. Commercial orchards start making sense from an acre upward, where spacing and irrigation efficiency begin to matter financially.
Mango, sapota, guava, coconut, date palm and citrus all perform here, but the right answer depends on your soil depth, drainage and water quality. We test before recommending rather than assuming.
It varies by species. Guava and citrus can begin bearing within two to three years. Mango and sapota typically take four to six years to meaningful yield. Anyone quoting you faster than that on mango is guessing.
Yes, and we insist on it. Depth, drainage, salinity and water quality decide what will bear. Skipping this is how people end up with a healthy looking orchard that never yields properly.
For some species, yes. We transplant mature trees and palms with a hydraulic crane, including root ball preparation and aftercare. It costs considerably more but skips years of waiting.
Yes. We source quality grafted saplings from established nurseries. Variety and rootstock are chosen for your site rather than for what is cheapest or in stock.
Drip, designed for mature demand but staged for growth so young trees are not overwatered. Emitters move outward as the root zone expands. We design the system as part of the layout.
Yes, through the establishment period and beyond if you want it. Watering schedules, formative pruning, training, nutrition and pest management. The first three years decide the next twenty.
Yes, and it usually is. Orchard blocks, shaded seating, lawn areas and driveways are planned together so the plot works as one thing. See our landscaping service.
