Surat builds upward more than any other city we serve. Most enquiries here are terrace and balcony gardens on apartment towers rather than the ground-level landscaping that dominates Anand or Gandhinagar.
That makes the structural side of the job the important part. Slab load, waterproofing age and wind exposure on a twelfth-floor terrace matter far more than plant selection — get those wrong and the garden either leaks into the flat below or blows apart in the first monsoon.

Height, humidity and wind
Surat is far more humid than Ahmedabad and gets a heavier monsoon. That is easier on plants in summer and harder in the wet months — fungal disease is the main problem here, so spacing, airflow and drainage carry more weight in the design.
Wind is the factor most people underestimate. Above the eighth floor or so, wind dries containers faster than the sun does and will shred large-leaved species. We use windbreak planting, heavier planters and tougher foliage on high terraces.
Coastal proximity means salt in the air on the Dumas and Magdalla side. Species that scorch in salt-laden wind are simply not used there.
